Lorenzo & Christine Muñoz

Wine for down to earth folks

"Deep purple colour. Aromas of rich dark currants, nectarine skins, gushing blackberry, but lots of fragrant tobacco, rich soil, white flowers, smashed minerals and metal. Medium-bodied and saucy but racy acidity stabilizes the wine nicely with the robust tannins. Deep red currants and ripe cherries, laden with mocha, loamy soil, charred herbs, pencil shavings, roasted hazelnut. Dense like characters that make it perfect for cellaring, however it is drinkable straight away once you expose it to the earth’s atmosphere."
Are you kidding me?!
If You love wine and have always wanted to learn more about it beyond the mindless point systems and verbose descriptions,  the Hinsdale Wine Academy will show you a way to appreciate its beauty through common sense learning in a structured and unassuming setting where all egos are checked at the door.
Why drive downtown for similar classes at almost twice the price?

The idea...

Lets face it.  Wine is good without having to think too hard about it, right?  But what's also true is that there's a greater appreciation of its beauty through understanding the nuances and the craft that goes into every bottle.  Through our classes you will learn about its history, grape varietals, how they become wine, their regions, and the techniques for basic sensory evaluation and food pairings.

Sounds good, doesn't it? Well,
if this is you, grab a friend and lets meet at the Hinsdale Wine Academy.

Oh, the things you will learn...

Former students say...

"Classes offer a complete escape into the fascinating world of wine.  Lorenzo and Christine Muñoz’ passionate curiosity about wines is contagious and never pompous.  - Claudine R.

"We had no idea that HWA's Level 1 would be such fun! Lorenzo and Christine use humor and humbleness to help even the most simple wine drinkers build confidence in their ability to select and enjoy a great glass of wine.  We would highly recommend HWA and are looking forward to "Leveling up" soon!" - Jacinta and Gerardo R.

"Who knew learning could be so much fun! Lorenzo presents the material in a way you can't help but remember and enjoy applying it. Christine, also an introductory sommelier and women of many talents, puts a charcuterie platter together to rival the best. You will leave each lesson with your brain and stomach satisfied." Pam C.

"After completing HWA,  I have a great foundation on the entire wine community and have all of the confidence in the world to order a bottle of wine while at dinner and I enjoy going to the wine store and continuing my wine journey.   The class is fun, entertaining and allows you to soak up as much knowledge as you are willing to put in.   This is an awesome class to do as a couple or with a group of friends. " - Scott F.

“Had a fantastic time!  Lorenzo knows A LOT about wine and presents in a very entertaining matter. My wife and I really liked the continuing battle “old world” versus “new world”. Coming from Germany as part of the “old world” I really liked how he presented our crown jewels (e.g. the Rieslings from the German Mosel) to the audience. Christine and Lorenzo were fantastic hosts” - Klaus C.

"Hinsdale Wine Academy goes beyond just learning about the bottles we drink but rather exposes the art and the experience that exists within wine. I feel now more than ever I can drink wine and reflect on how it represents good times, family/friends, and travel - so much the essence of life." - Rory S.

About Us

"Maybe it's because I'm getting older, I'm finding enjoyment in things that stop time.  Just the simple act of tasting a glass of wine is its own event.  You are not downing a glass of wine in the midts of doing something else"
                                                                                                                    - D.H. Pierce
